Siri AI adds five languages, with device and regional limits

French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish join Siri AI. Check compatible devices, regional restrictions, setup requirements and usage limits.

Apple announced on October 26, 2026 that Siri AI now supports French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish alongside English. The expansion lets eligible owners use the assistant in more of their preferred languages through the released 27.2 software updates. Siri AI itself remains in beta.

Apple describes Siri AI as an assistant that can find information in personal messages and emails, prepare an email draft, and respond to questions about what is on screen. The October update extends language access to those existing capabilities. Apple had already promised this language expansion when the English beta launched in September.

Check your device and region

Siri AI remains unavailable on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch in the EU. Apple’s current announcement retains that restriction. Its earlier platform announcement permits EU access on compatible Macs and Apple Vision Pro headsets set to a supported language. The practical consequence: the same reader can face different eligibility rules on a phone and a Mac.

Apple lists the rollout in iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and visionOS 27.2. Installing the software is not enough; the device must also support Apple Intelligence. Examples in Apple’s hardware requirements include:

  • iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, iPhone 16 models or later, iPhone Air and iPhone Duo. The ordinary iPhone 15 is not on the list.

  • iPad mini with A17 Pro, iPads and Macs with M1 or later chips, MacBook Neo with A18 Pro, and Apple Vision Pro.

  • Apple Watch Series 9 or later, Ultra 2 or later, and SE 3. The watch must be paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone that also has Siri AI enabled, according to Apple’s setup guide.

Siri AI also excludes users under 13 and does not work with an Apple Account region set to mainland China. Apple’s broader China restrictions exclude supported devices bought there; for devices bought elsewhere, Apple Intelligence does not work when both the user’s location and account region are in mainland China.

Use Siri AI’s language list, then check setup

Apple Intelligence and Siri AI do not have identical language coverage. For example, German and Italian appear in Apple’s wider Apple Intelligence list, but neither is in Siri AI’s current six-language list. Support for another Apple AI feature is not confirmation that Siri AI works in that language.

For an eligible device, Apple’s activation instructions require matching device and Siri languages. After updating, open Settings, choose Siri, then Try Siri AI (Beta); turn Siri on first if necessary. Complete voice enrollment and review privacy settings. Apple describes a waitlist with variable waiting times, followed by an automatic download, so activation need not be immediate.

There is a documentation mismatch: the setup guide, dated October 22, still says English only. The October 26 announcement supplies the newer Siri AI language list. Apple’s general support page also lists fewer Apple Intelligence languages for Vision Pro, omitting Portuguese. The announcement does not provide a complete language-by-device matrix; it should not be read as a promise of identical features everywhere.

Daily limits and future languages

Apple’s same-day availability details say Siri AI is subject to daily usage limits and that expanded access will cost extra in future. They give no numerical allowance, price or paid-access start date. Under Apple’s usage terms, reaching a limit can restrict the affected feature until the allowance resets; other device features remain usable.

Apple plans to add traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese by the end of 2026. That is a stated rollout plan, not current availability or a confirmed release date.
